City of HCM (VNA) – The Council for Charitable and Social Affairs of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha (VBS) The Central Committee and its chapters nationwide have carried out charitable and social activities totaling more than VND 12 trillion (USD 508 million) from 2017 to 2022.

The information was released at a conference on Buddhist Affairs during the 8th term (2017 – 2022) and tasks for the 9th term (2022 – 2027) held by the council in Ho Chi Minh City on September 14.

The Most Venerable Thich Quang Tung, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of VBS Central Committee and Head of the Board, said that during the past term, the board has established an effective charity program to join state and local authorities in the COVID-19 fight, raise funds to help disadvantaged people and carry out social security activities.

Tra Quang Thanh, religious affairs director of the southern region of the government committee for religious affairs, spoke highly of the council’s achievements and expressed his belief that it will build on the achievements to continue fulfilling Buddhist tasks and actively participate in the VBS and the state. social Security activities, thus contributing to the great national solidarity and to the development of the VBS./.
