The Ministry of Social Development and Welfare and UNICEF organize a workshop and brunch on the vision board “The Lady in Me”
The program reached 21 students from grades 1 and 2 at Marjorie Basden High School and sought to create a space where these young girls can interact with, learn from the experience of older women, and be inspired and empowered to greatness. .
The program which was held at the East Bay Resort saw young women take part in capacity building sessions on topics such as ‘Goal Setting and Achievable Milestones’ and ‘Your Thoughts Become Your Reality’. The young girls helped identify presenters in the South Caicos community with whom they would like to speak. Kiatana Robinson and Maria Clare, Women of Soul, spoke vibrantly and informatively about the lives of these young women.
The day ended with the girls creating vision boards outlining their personal goals and aspirations and committing to focus on and achieve those goals.
Commenting on the workshop, Director Tiffany Thomas-Browne who was in attendance and a great lady who grew up in South Caicos said, “Everyone needs someone to encourage and mentor them to their fullest potential.
People they can aspire to become and guide them in achieving their goals and purpose in life through such positive interactions and relationships.
This Vision Board workshop aims to do just that and help young girls believe in the importance of writing down their visions and knowing that they can achieve it. Many thanks to my team who helped with the preparation and organization to ensure its success.
The Ministry of Social Development and Welfare is committed to empowering and protecting the children of these naturally beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands.
